Exness Swap-Free Halal Trading Guide

Exness Swap-Free Account (2026): Eligible Countries, Pairs, Fees, and Is It Halal?

Most traders assume an “Islamic account” is a separate product you apply for. At Exness, it isn’t. Swap-free status is a setting Exness assigns by country of registration and adjusts based on how you trade.

That design cuts both ways. Traders outside Muslim-majority countries can still hold majors and gold overnight without swaps, but Exness can also downgrade or remove that status if your trading pattern changes. And the Exness swap-free account answers only one Shariah question: the interest question. It leaves the possession and leverage questions open.

This guide covers who qualifies, which pairs are covered, what you still pay, and where scholars actually disagree.

What Is the Exness Swap-Free Account and How Does It Work?

The Exness swap-free account is a status applied to an existing trading account. It removes overnight swap charges and credits on eligible instruments. Exness assigns it automatically to accounts registered in Islamic countries. Elsewhere, it grants an “Extended” or “Standard” swap-free level based on trading activity.

Two Levels: Standard and Extended

The Exness Help Centre says swap-free status comes in two levels: Standard swap-free and Extended swap-free. Exness gives Extended status by default to applicable accounts opened by clients in non-Islamic countries. Extended covers everything on the Standard list plus a longer list of currency pairs.

The two levels aren’t fixed. The same Help Centre article says Exness can move an account from Extended to Standard automatically when its trading activity changes. The trader doesn’t have to opt in to that change.

Which Account Types Qualify

Swap-free status works across the full Exness lineup:

  • Standard Cent: commission-free, cent-denominated balances
  • Standard: commission-free, spread-only pricing
  • Pro: tighter spreads, no commission
  • Raw Spread: near-zero spreads plus a per-lot commission
  • Zero: zero spread on top instruments plus a per-lot commission

You don’t open a separate “Islamic” account type. You keep the account you want, and the swap-free status sits on top of it.

Which Countries Get Exness Swap-Free Status Automatically?

Exness applies swap-free status automatically to accounts registered from countries where Islamic finance rules apply. Traders in those countries need no application and no proof of religion. Clients in all other countries get Extended swap-free status by default, which Exness reviews against their trading activity.

Automatic (Islamic-Country) Registration

Exness’s public Help Centre doesn’t publish one fixed, numbered list of qualifying countries. The Exness Help Centre guide on swap-free instruments confirms that every account registered in an “Islamic territory” is swap-free automatically. Independent reviewers have compiled partial lists. TradingBeasts, for example, names countries including Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Brunei, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan and Kazakhstan.

Treat any third-party country list as a starting point, not a guarantee. Exness decides eligibility at registration, so your Personal Area is the only reliable confirmation.

What This Means If You Aren’t in an Islamic Country

In practice, a trader in India, the UK or Brazil can still hold EUR/USD or gold overnight without paying swaps, as long as the account keeps Extended status. Tie your strategy to the status you actually have rather than the one you started with.

Which Pairs and Instruments Are Swap-Free on Exness?

Exness offers swap-free trading on major pairs, gold, oil, indices, stocks, and cryptocurrencies for eligible accounts. The Extended level adds a longer list of currency crosses. Instruments outside your level’s list still carry normal swaps, so check each symbol before holding a position overnight.

Instruments Swap-Free for Everyone

DailyForex notes that Exness offers swap-free trading on many liquid assets to all clients, not only those in Islamic countries. In Forex Advocate’s reading of Exness’s published terms, the core group includes:

  • Major forex pairs
  • Gold (XAU/USD)
  • US Oil
  • Stock CFDs
  • Index CFDs
  • Cryptocurrency CFDs

Pairs Added Under Extended Swap-Free

The Exness Help Centre lists the extra Extended-level symbols. They include:

Category Pairs (Extended swap-free)
USD majors EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDJPY, USDCHF, USDCAD, AUDUSD, NZDUSD
EUR crosses EURCHF, EURAUD, EURCAD, EURGBP, EURJPY, EURNZD
GBP crosses GBPJPY, GBPCHF, GBPNZD
AUD and NZD crosses AUDNZD, AUDCHF, AUDJPY, NZDJPY, NZDCAD

The Help Centre’s published list runs longer than this table, so open the full article for the current set.

Instruments Most Likely to Still Carry Swaps

Exotic pairs and less liquid crosses are the usual exceptions. If a symbol isn’t on your level’s list, Exness charges or pays the standard swap at rollover. Swing traders on exotics get caught by this most often.

Swap-free status is one cost factor. Spreads, execution, and withdrawals matter just as much when you choose a broker.

What Does an Exness Swap-Free Account Actually Cost?

Swap-free status removes only the overnight swap on eligible instruments. You still pay the normal spread on every account, plus a commission on Raw Spread and Zero. Exness doesn’t publish a separate administration fee for swap-free positions in the Help Centre articles we reviewed, unlike several competitors.

Costs That Still Apply

Cost component Applies on swap-free? Detail
Overnight swap No, on eligible instruments Standard swap still applies to non-listed symbols
Spread Yes Same as the regular account
Commission (Raw Spread) Yes Up to $3.50 per side per lot, per ForexBrokers.com
Commission (Zero) Yes From $0.05 per side per lot, per ForexBrokers.com
Administration fee None published by Exness See note on conflicting third-party claims below

How Exness Differs From the “Admin Fee” Model

Many brokers replace swaps with a holding charge. Vantage’s Help Centre, for example, says it applies a variable administration fee to swap-free positions, made up of a liquidity-provider charge plus an internal processing fee. That’s the main structural difference between Exness and admin-fee brokers.

Some third-party sites claim Exness charges a fixed fee after positions stay open for several days. We couldn’t confirm that in Exness’s own documentation. Before you hold a position for weeks, check the swap columns for that symbol on your account.

The Hidden Cost: Losing Status

The bigger financial risk comes from losing the status, not from fees. DailyForex reports that Exness can cancel swap-free status on all of a client’s accounts if it detects abuse. After that, swaps apply to open orders and to any orders opened later. A large carry position can turn expensive overnight.

How Do You Activate or Check Swap-Free Status on Exness?

Registered in an Islamic country? Then you don’t need to activate anything. Everyone else gets Extended status by default. Either way, the Exness Help Centre shows your current level in the Personal Area under Trading Conditions.

Checking Your Status in the Personal Area

  1. Log in to your Exness Personal Area.
  2. Click the profile icon and select Trading Conditions.
  3. Find your current level under Swap-Free.
  4. Click Learn more to see which instruments your level covers.

Checking a Specific Instrument

  1. Visit exness.com and open any instrument page under Trading > Instruments.
  2. Read the swap-free label under the instrument name (for example, “extended swap-free available”).
  3. Check the long and short swap columns. Zero in both columns means no overnight charge applies.
  4. In MetaTrader, right-click the symbol, open Specification, and confirm the swap values.

Habits That Protect Your Status

  • Don’t open positions mainly to farm rate differentials.
  • Recheck Trading Conditions after any big change in volume or holding time.
  • Read every Personal Area notification about your swap-free level.

Is the Exness Swap-Free Account Halal?

Removing swaps eliminates the interest (riba) charged on overnight positions, but most fatwa bodies don’t treat that as enough on its own. Scholars also look at whether you take legitimate possession of the currency and whether margin trading is involved. Opinions differ, so consult a qualified scholar.

What a Swap-Free Account Fixes

Overnight swaps are interest payments based on the rate gap between two currencies. Taking swaps out removes that element. That’s why swap-free accounts exist, and why Exness doesn’t charge a replacement fee that looks like interest under another name.

What It Doesn’t Address

Shariah condition Does swap-free solve it? Why it matters
No interest (riba) Yes, on eligible instruments Swaps are interest-based
Spot settlement and possession (qabd) No Currency exchange (sarf) requires same-session exchange
No margin borrowing No Leverage involves broker credit
Low excessive uncertainty (gharar) Depends on how you trade High leverage increases speculative exposure

What Scholarly Bodies Say

The AAOIFI Shariah Standard No. 1 on Trading in Currencies, issued in 2000, permits currency trading when it follows Shariah conditions on possession. An overview published by IslamicFinance.com explains that the standard accepts constructive possession, not just physical delivery. Some scholars rely on that to permit unleveraged, instantly settled trading.

Others go further. Jordan’s General Iftaa’ Department rules that trading on today’s forex platforms is impermissible, citing the lack of legitimate possession and the use of margin. It also states that “Islamic” forex accounts don’t cure those two problems.

Exness doesn’t certify its swap-free status as Shariah-compliant. Vantage, by comparison, states openly in its Shariah FAQ that it doesn’t warrant Shariah compliance and refers clients to qualified scholars. That’s the right default for any broker.

Can Indian Traders Use the Exness Swap-Free Account?

Exness accepts registrations from India, and Indian accounts typically receive Extended swap-free status as non-Islamic-country registrations. However, the Reserve Bank of India lists Exness on its Alert List of unauthorized forex platforms. That creates legal risk under FEMA, regardless of swap-free status.

The Regulatory Position

Business Standard reported that Exness was among the entities on the RBI’s first Alert List in September 2022. The RBI expanded the list to 95 names in November 2025, according to Outlook Money. Entities on the RBI Alert List aren’t authorized to deal in forex under the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999.

What This Means in Practice

  • Swap-free status doesn’t change Exness’s authorization status in India.
  • Indian Muslim traders face the regulatory question first and the Shariah question second.
  • Tax treatment and FEMA exposure depend on your situation, so speak to a qualified chartered accountant or lawyer before funding any offshore account.

Conclusion

The sharpest takeaway is that Exness swap-free status is conditional, not permanent. Exness grants it by country or by default and reviews it continuously. Traders who understand the Extended and Standard levels can hold majors and gold overnight without swaps and without a replacement admin fee, which beats the fee-based model many competitors use.

That advantage holds only if you trade the way the status assumes. Build a carry-heavy book on pairs outside your list, and you’ll find out at the next rollover that swaps still apply. Lose the status entirely and every open position starts accruing interest at once.

For Muslim traders, the swap removal settles one question, not all of them. For Indian traders, the RBI Alert List comes before everything else. The next step is to look at the rest of Exness’s offering: spreads, execution, withdrawals and regulation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Exness doesn’t publish a separate administration fee for swap-free positions in the Help Centre articles we reviewed. That sets it apart from brokers like Vantage, which charge a variable admin fee instead of swaps. You still pay the normal spread on every account, plus commission on Raw Spread and Zero. Some third-party sites claim Exness adds a fixed fee after several days. We couldn’t verify that in Exness’s documentation, so check the swap columns for your instrument before holding positions long term.

Exness applies swap-free status automatically in Islamic countries and gives Extended swap-free status by default everywhere else, so most clients get some level of swap-free trading. The difference lies in coverage and stability. Non-Islamic-country accounts can drop from Extended to Standard based on trading activity, which shrinks the list of swap-free pairs. Some instruments, mainly exotic pairs, carry normal swaps at every level. Your Personal Area under Trading Conditions shows your current status and covered instruments.

Exness can remove or downgrade swap-free status. According to DailyForex’s review of Exness’s Islamic account terms, Exness can cancel swap-free status on all of a client’s accounts if it detects abuse. Swaps then apply to existing open orders and to new ones. For non-Islamic-country accounts, Exness can also move Extended status down to Standard automatically. Keep positions sized for normal trading, and watch Personal Area notifications for status changes.

Gold (XAU/USD) sits in Exness’s core swap-free group, so eligible accounts can hold gold positions overnight without paying swaps. That makes Exness one of the more practical options for traders who swing-trade gold under swap-free conditions. Coverage depends on your account’s current status, so confirm it under Trading Conditions in your Personal Area. Spreads and any account commission still apply. For wider cost context, see Forex Advocate’s full Exness review.

Scholars disagree on whether forex trading through an Islamic account is halal. Removing swaps eliminates overnight interest, but bodies such as Jordan’s General Iftaa’ Department still rule platform forex impermissible because of missing legitimate possession and the use of margin. Other scholars, relying on AAOIFI’s acceptance of constructive possession, permit instantly settled, unleveraged trading. The account type alone doesn’t settle the ruling. Seek guidance from a qualified Islamic scholar who understands how retail CFD platforms work.
